5,000 Twitter tweets and counting. That’s right folks I’ve just passed 5,000 updates on Twitter. It scares me and yet I feel strangely proud. Perhaps I need to get out more, of course I can post to Twitter from my cell phone, so I guess there’s no escaping it.
This morning I did a little backtracking to find my first tweet. On February 18, 2007, I tweeted that I was putting my son to bed. It was pretty cool to flip back through my tweets to see what I was up to back then. The highlights of that day included spending time with my family, dealing with a cold, and enjoying the Tennessee weather. It seems not a lot has changed in almost one year of Twittering.
When did you start to Twitter? To find out go to your profile page and scroll to the bottom. Hit the Older button. Note that the page URL will look like this: http://twitter.com/davedelaney?page=2. Now change that number 2 too 200 and hit the new URL. Anything? If not, just reduce that 200 number until you see your tweets. You’ll be able to determine your first tweet pretty quickly from there.
I’d love to know your date you started and what your first tweet was. Please share it here in the comments.
Happy Tweeting.

Dave, congrats on crossing the 5K line! Now on to 10K, eh? I’m not too far behind (4,378 currently) and will celebrate by 5,000th tweet sometime in February.
Let’s see… first tweet was… on March 4th, 2007 at 1:13pm (link). In which I disclose “Reading RSS Feeds” - how revealing eh?
I believe I found Twitter via Robert Scoble while preparing for SXSW 2007.

Rick

This was my first tweet:
” I’m not believing that it’s already my birthday!” 09:55 AM June 29, 2007
Then I didn’t really touch Twitter very much for a few months, then December rolled around and I found your tutorial. The rest is history.

Congrats Dave. 5000 tweets is a lot. I am only at 812 at the moment but will hit at least 1000 I hope.
It was fun to search for my first tweet but it turned out pretty lame

Thanks for your comment Turker. I don’t think your first tweet is unlike many others, so I wouldn’t consider it lame, accurate is a better description.
812 ain’t too shabby too.
Happy travels to 1,000!
Cheers,
Dave

Hey Dave,
You need to be following thinkjose on Twitter. You fellas run in a lot of the same circles. He started a geek dinner here in the TriCities TN called geeksouth, speaks at sxsw, is pitching an internet startup to some guys in Nashville this week. He’s a podcasting guy from way back. Uber-cool. thinkjose.com
Put your blog on my reader. Looks like fun.
Take care,
Eric

Hi Eric: Thanks so much for the introduction to ThinkJose. I’ve started following now. He looks like an awesome dude!
Wow, it does sound like we’re on the same page with a lot of stuff, eh?
Hey, I liked the fellowtip.com intro too - nice job!
Cheers,
Dave
